A group of peace-activists, politicians, scholars, business leaders, researchers and other interested persons from around the world, concerned with world peace, first organized an international conference in Schengen in 2006. From this the World Peace Forum developed:

General Goals and Aims of the World Peace Forum are:
- To advance the course of peace, by providing a platform for all interested parties.
- To encourage free discussion on peace issues and related matters.
- To promote the interaction of existing peace activists and organizations.
- To put peace onto the agendas of organizations and to institutionalize peace.
The World Peace Forum aims to link people and organizations, interested in building a peaceful world through international communication, such as newsletters, journals and periodic conferences.
The World Peace Forum is independent, non-for-profit and educational.
A World Peace Forum conference is held once a year in Luxembourg and the Greater Region. Furthermore local conferences are hosted by national organizations worldwide.
